LA Artcore presents a two artist exhibition featuring Southern California artists, Peter Zaleski and Curtis Wright.

Watch the video of this exhibition.

Californian artist, Peter Zaleski combines geometric and organic elements to suggest and weave impressions of the modernized landscape. Having witnessed the transformation of the California landscape from a complex natural environment to chaotic mixes of malls, freeway billboards, urban and suburban sprawl, Zaleski synthesizes his observations in paintings and prints by combining sheets of painted Japanese paper into fragmented compositions. Zaleski’s inclusion of organic shapes within the sheets of paper, refer to his close study of his surroundings in which these forms appear as gesture, the painter’s brushstroke, the imprint of branches or the trails of animals, birds or reptiles.  Zaleski studied at the University of Illinois Urbana (BFA) and at the University of Southern California (MFA) and has exhibited nationally and internationally.

Southern Californian, Curtis Wright is as influenced by color and light in both nature and the imagination as he is about public and private realms of the mind. Wright’s paintings are the outcome of excursions to baseball games where the artist studies his subjects for compositions. Wright emphasizes geometric spatial relationships between figure and ground, organizing shapes with a sense for spontaneous line, visual movement and color harmony. In this exhibition, Wright will have imagery revolving around 1930's-'40's horse racing.  It began with Wright and his father being used as crowd extras in the movie Seabiscuit.  The artwork, consisting of paintings, drawings and intaglio prints are derived from stories and ephemera his father supplied to Wright with over the years. Wright received his MFA from Cal State University, Los Angeles, and has shown nationally including the George Krevsky Gallery, San Franscisco.
